Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian-German film and television actress best known for her performances in films such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. As the only daughter from Romanian actor Valentin Platareanu Alexandra stepped into the world of show business early, and ended up playing lead roles in different shows on television by the time she turned 16. Her fame was due to her portrayal as a character in Der Tunnel. This paved the way for other unforgettable performances, like Adolf Hitler's Secretariat Traudl Junge. The other Oscar nominated films featuring the famous diva are The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is well-known for her involvement in many notable projects, both in the United States and internationally. The projects include British biographical film Control as well as The Dust of Time as well as French history mini-series Napoleon. The actress also served on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
