However, he fell in love Colorado. He eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his adopted home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado as John Denver." In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. He is now the symbol of Colorado to people around the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, someone of New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown explained. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version of the song and realized the song would be an instant hit in the top 10. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later after performing it to an enthusiastic audience at Washington D.C.
